This house in downtown Bend used to be a commercial plant nursery, complete with greenhouse, water features and other odd artifacts and details. The greenhouse, garage and house formed a courtyard, which was nice, but the out buildings were not very functional for me and the yard and all the plants required far too much maintenance. I converted the greenhouse into a proper dwelling and office for my design studio, and enclose and reorient garage. I created an outdoor patio area with hardscape that was more functional and maintainable for me. The studio was built on a new concrete slab with acid stained floor, full bathroom and sleeping loft. The pergola was built with clear cedar boards and posts. And throughout the property, I made use of some of the previous artifacts, such as the ornate facade and statues.
